CONTEMPORARY DANCE WORKSHOP
KSD is proud to host the Grand OnStage program, presenting a workshop with the extraordinary Artistic Director and Contemporary Dance Choreographer, Shay Kuebler.
The workshop on Tuesday, October 15th, led by Kuebler, will explore physical techniques in numerous forms of martial arts and dance, leading to improvisation and choreographic exploration. Radical System Art is based on the theory of finding a raw physicality that can be shaped with technique. Classes look to diversify and challenge technical ability, while also expanding movement theory and interpretive depth as a performer.

WHERE: Studio A - Kingston School of Dance, 370 King St. West Unit #303, Kingston, ON
WHO: Intermediate and advanced dance students, ages 16+.
COST: Free of charge. Presented by Grand OnStage and The City of Kingston.

This class is for handstand practitioners and wannabes of all levels. Absolute beginners will work on developing strength and confidence to enter handstand holds; those who are comfortable in handstands against the wall will work on developing balance and confidence in their freestanding handstands, entrances, and exits. More experienced practitioners will work on transitioning between shapes and leg choreography. All classes will also include a strengthening and mobility component.
Recommended minimum prerequisite - Able to hold a plank and a downward dog for 1 minute each, or have equivalent core strength and ability to take weight in the wrists/shoulders.
Recommended attire: Comfortable athletic/dance attire that will not fly in your face when upside down.
